Owner's Review "I use the 525 exclusively on my Kayak, fishing in N California lakes for trout or stripers. The
transducer is gooped directly to the inside of hull and it works just great via the thru hull method. However, I do wish that I bought
the 565 for a wider coverage." mikehwy101 (California)

Owner's Review "I have owned Humminbird fish finders before and this one lives up to my expectations. The install
was fairly easy and I am impressed with it's overall construction. Nice big screen and simple menu functions.
I would have rated this
item 5 stars but I did find one design flaw with the transducer bracket. It has a little too much clearence between the bracket plate
and the transducer pivot and at higher speeds it throws a roostertail and gets water in the back of the boat. It's nothing a little
ingenuity can't fix but it is a flaw none the less.
I was impressed with the overall display detail of the structure below and was
blown away that it marks fish down to the tenth of a foot! When the first fish I marked came back @ 6.2 ft I was convinced I had made the
right choice. Great value, awsome product." JayTheFisherman (MI) |

Owner's Review "I bought this unit a few weeks ago. The install was pretty straightforward. I have used it once and
the detail was very good. I don't really care for the connections to the display. If you go through some chop for a while the cables
want to disconnect.
I am going to put some liquid tape on it and that should fix it. Overall, I am very pleased with the unit."

Humminbird 525 Fish Finder Comments

Question: I plan on doing some ice fishing and would like to know the maximum thickness of ice that the Humminbird 525
Fish Finder would read thru. Great site , I learned a lot from you guys. Bill G
Answer: The Humminbird 525
fishfinder is a nice unit, however, it is only rated at 200 Watts RMS. Now, the higher the Watts the more depth you will
read. Humminbird says 800 feet but I don't think that is likely.
They do say that at 40 feet you will pick up a small
jig and you have separation in targets by 2 1/2 inches. The transducer is 200 khz which is OK but the cone angle is only 20 degrees, so you will be looking at a smaller area.
This unit is not
like the Vexilar's which can shoot directly thru the ice as long as the transducer is wet, so you will still have
to drill a hole. You can save yourself a lot of time by getting a hydrographic map of the lake your going to fish or ask the bait shop
owner in the area where the shoals are.
You can also cheat by watching where everyone else is fishing and at different
times of the season. You might want to invest in a hand held GPS and mark the waypoints using some kind of code so
you know when you were there.
Also a fish finder doesn't catch fish only lets you know if you wasting time in the area.
Pay attention to the bottom readings and learn to interpret what they mean. Each type of fish your going after has
certain habits, so you'll have to do a little reading.
