Just How Does It Work?
"Your Matrix fishing system uses a six-element transducer that transmits at 455 Khz and is capable of reaching depths of 240 ft. (75M)." In other words you have increased the density of coverage by 6X's.
Think of it as lining up 6 flashlights in a row and then turning them on.
"Each transmitted beam is 16 degrees in width and is
symmetrical. The six beams are lined up next to each other to provide a total coverage of 53 degrees from side to side and 16 degrees from front to back.
Using multiple narrow beams together gives you a wide
area of coverage for terrain interpretation and fish location, without sacrificing the detail only a narrow beam can provide.
Your Matrix Fishing system gathers information from a continuous series
of these returned signals.
It then interprets this information to create a detailed 3 dimensional view of
the terrain passing beneath your boat as you travel across the water."
The following is a quote from a buyer who has done a review.
"Strengths: Incredible 3d presentation; Outstanding 2d view from 6 separate beams; expandable features
Weaknesses: Color would be great. High cost for B/W unit.
Summary: I mounted the Matrix 47 3d not knowing exactly what to expect. I have had the unit on the water several times now and am
amazed at the clarity and target separation. I can clearly mark fish that I'm confident wouldn't have displayed on my previous unit.
I connected my hand-held GPS via the humminbird connection cable and now have track-plotting and GPS speed. This is a great feature
as well. The 3D presentation is remarkable in its ability to show you orientation of marked structure and fish to the boat. I can now
not only tell at what depth a target was marked, but where in relation to the boat (far left, left, center, right, far right).
The transducer bracket for the Matrix 47 is stainless steel. I've broken more mounts than transducers, so I view this as a great feature
as well. The screen is B/W but resolution is ultra-sharp and easy to read even in direct sunlight.
With 12-level grey scale, you get
plenty of distinction beween the various items displayed.
This would be an unsurpassed unit with 256 color, but the cost would most likely offset the value. I'd highly recommend this unit to
anyone serious about understanding the bottom terrain."

What is the best fish finder for the price? I have a 19 ft. boat on Lake Ontario. Depending on price, I'm looking for a fishfinder/gps combo or just a depth/fishfinder w/o the gps. Many Standard Fish Finder Features I'm considering a fairly top of the line fish finder/GPS unit for my bass boat. I am looking for a unit to tell me speed, water temp, and record waypoints. |
