The New Clackin’ Rap
| You will have a great deal of difficulty defining the new Clackin’ Rap from Rapala but it does do one thing best and that is to trigger bigger fish.
There are a great variety of ways to fish it. It can cover any depth, from just under the surface to nosebleed. But there’s something about it that you’ll see only after it’s in the water. "We have our theories (as to why it appeals to big fish)," says Rapala’s Mark Fisher." Unlike other lipless crankbaits, it’s much wider, much broader. As it moves along, it displaces more water, creating the kind of vibrations that interest big fish. It’s got a metal capsule that holds a single, large stainless rattle ball. You get a metal-on-metal clanging, rattling sound that seems to call up big fish. It’s crisp, harsh. It means something, we can tell that." |
It goes without saying that the translucent, textured body, featuring holographic foil and 17 choice X-Rap finishes, is flawless in design and consistent in performance. Important is the front Sure Set treble, a hook that clings when big fish try to throw it back at you. Ditto for the smaller Black Nickel treble on the back, which specializes in grabbing fish that slap at the bait.
We haven’t even begun to talk about the many ways to present the Clackin’ Rap.
Burn it just under the surface.
Reel it steadily along shallow flats.
Pump and pulse it, letting the holographics flash and that rattle talk.
Count it down for precise presentations just over the tops of weeds or other cover.
Let it fall all the way to bottom, no matter how deep, then rip it hard, following the drop with your rod tip.
It shines from top to bottom. There really is no wrong way to fish it. It really does call to big fish better, more consistently.
Please note that I will never send you any unsolicited email or communication. Ever. I hate it just as much as you do
and the only reason you have to log in to post is to help eliminate the great amount of SPAM, I do receive. My apologees.
